Sponge shortlisted for Learning Provider of the Year award

Date:

At the end of a multiple award-winning year in 2018, custom digital learning provider, Sponge, has been shortlisted for another major award to be announced in the New Year.

Sponge has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Learning Provider of the Year category in the Learning and Performance Institute (LPI) annual Learning Awards. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London on 7 February 2019.

This follows a string of recent award wins, including scooping silver in the coveted Learning Technologies Company of the Year category at the 2018 LT Awards in November. An independent panel of judges described Sponge as “the most inspirational organisation” of all the 11 finalists up for the category.

In selecting Sponge as one of the finalists for Learning Provider of the Year, the LPI looked at the transformative impact of the company’s innovative learning solutions for its clients, which include Royal Mail, AstraZeneca and AXA.

In 2018, Sponge designed and created virtual reality (VR) dog safety awareness training for Royal Mail postal workers. And Sponge’s GDPR compliance game, GDPR Sorted, is achieving outstanding results for companies all around the world, with impressive completion rates being recorded.

Founder and managing director at Sponge, Louise Pasterfield, said the secret to the company’s success was its ability to work in partnership with clients to gain a real understanding of their business challenges and needs: “That means identifying and meeting learners’ aspirations as well as the organisation’s business goals”.

“What I find so exciting is that we are applying fresh approaches and ideas to unleash potential, and then seeing the results that these learning experiences are achieving for our clients,” she added.

The past 12 months has been a significant period of growth for Sponge, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in February 2019. New offices were opened in Dublin and Bristol, and the company also expanded its presence in London and grew its headquarters in Plymouth.

Staffing has increased to almost 120, making it one of the largest independently-owned custom digital learning providers in Europe. Growth is expected to continue into next year with an ongoing recruitment drive and planned office expansion.

“We have successfully built a creative hotbed and our goal is to be global leaders in custom digital learning within the next five years,” added Louise. “As we continue to innovate and harness new learning technologies for our clients, we see an exciting future journey ahead.”
